Born in the eminent family of the state of Atak (Attock) of Undivided Indian (Now in Pakistan), Maharaj Inder Singh Wahi was brought up in Delhi and completed his Honours in English from Hindu College, Delhi University. Wahi has traveled widely within India and overseas and is considered to be a pioneer in elevating the profile and professionalism of the Indian Tourism industry.
